This is pretty much a clone of a D'Addario capo I have in a metallic brown. While the silver is more attractive than mine, I actually tend more towards the rustic Schubb Americana vibe with capos rather than this modern design.But what I do like most about this capo is the large knob that makes it easy to set and release just enough tension to avoid squeezing strings out of tune or creating indentations in the neck wood or embedding stray particles into the finish.That's more of a problem with older heavy-clamping capos that take an all-or-nothing approach to tension - you hold your breath and take your chances. Capos have come a long way and, if you like simplicity and the design appeals to you, you'll be happy with this.

I've used a ton of capos over the last few decades and I always have problems with them not quite being tight enough to fret all six strings on all of my guitars. They'll usually work fine on one but will cause buzzing on another. I usually have to add some padding to get all six strings to ring cleanly. This capo is the first one that just works on all of them. It works on all of my electrics and my acoustics. I don't know how I've never seen a capo with an adjustable clamp like this. It's a brilliant design and it's easily the most functional capo I've used. It's also much smaller than a normal capo and it just looks sleek.

This screw adjustable capo is well made and attractively designed. It is available in either polished zinc metal color or a synthetic wood grain for a few dollars more. There is good silicone rubber padding for the strings and the neck to avoid damage. Spring capos work on most guitars and for most players but sometimes a little more pressure is necessary because of a high action, especially on the higher frets . Also some players need to set the capo back away from the fret to keep it from interfering with their fretting hand due to their playing style. If you don't have the capo close to the fret it will need higher pressure to keep the strings from muting. This capo can easily be adjusted to a very high pressure. In the accompanying photo you can see the capo set back well away from the seventh fret on this Martin guitar. In this setting it was easily able to put enough pressure on the strings. The way I play this is not a problem but when I showed this capo to a friend, he loved it because it would accommodate his technique better. He will be ordering one for himself.This screw adjustable capo is not as inexpensive as a comparable spring capo and it takes two hands and a few more seconds to install but it is designed for situations where a spring capo will not work well. When it is needed, you will be glad you have it.

This Stunning Silver Capo Has Great Adjustability for Clamping Pressure.That's the #1 reason you get a thumbscrew clamp over the typical spring clamp...or God forbid those cheap nylon strap capos.This operates smoothly and allows you to slowly tighten the thumb screw until you hear the completion of clearer notes where you're clamping the Capo versus just hoping for the best with the spring that might over stretch the string or leave some Frets buzzy.I tried a few guitars and ended up writing some nice bits of music from the test on a nylon string guitar.Though I think this Capo is best served being used across all 6 strings for guaranteed stability, I did manage to clamp at the 7th fret nut leaving my low E string in open position and wow...that's a nice magical result that you can not achieve with altered tunings.Here's why: I managed to play the frets behind the Capo on the low E string while the remaining 5 strings at my 7th fret Capo rang out like a Ukulele paired with a guitar.
